Breaking Official: Messi will not continue with Barcelona!!!

Last summer Lionel Messi had almost left last summer after putting in a transfer request. The 6 times Ballon D’or winner almost signed a 5 year extension contract and 50% pay cut.

Barcelona stated:

 The reasons why we couldn’t reach an agreement were quite clear – it was down to the economic situation the club is in and making an outlay of such magnitude… We were prepared to do so but we don’t have any margin with the wages bill, we have gone over it. The calamitous management of the previous board meant we exceeded the limit and we don’t have time to revert that situation.

Barcelona added:

Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).

As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.

FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.

Meanwhile Paris-Saint-Germain seem to be the favorites since they have the money and status in European football, which Messi will certainly like to be part of. After all, Messi will not feel alone in PSG, but will be welcomed with open arms by his friend Neymar and his Argentinian team mate Di Maria, especially after Neymar posted a photo of his PSG team mates AND Leo Messi. 

Having all these said, is Man City or MLS ruled out? We shall see.
